Welcome
to Pueblo Songwriters & Musicians Association Open Mic at Mulligans!
Every Wednesday night at 8:30 PM, I have the opportunity to introduce some
of Pueblo's finest musicians, but I also get to bring to you the "Fresh
Face" - the player and singers who want to try to "get it right."
Want to see what it's like to be on the stage side of the microphone under
the colored stage lights? We all had to start somewhere to get a chance
to play to a live audience - this is that opportunity!
So far
we've had everything from folk singers - bag piper's & harmonica players
- all the way to full blown bands. Presenting the music the way they "see
it" and "hear it in their heads." Always, a good time is had by all!
This venue
has a two fold purpose: First of all, it's all about bringing local musicians
out of the woodwork and give them a place to play in front of an audience
with a PA System & Soundman and for the seasoned musicians as well,
to try a new song out on the crowd or just jam and have
a good time! Many
bands have been formed here at Open Mic! Secondly, it's to raise money
- via a tip jar for the Adopt A Music Student Program. The moneys we raise
go to a fund we at PSMA manage so we can provide instruments to low income
and under privileged music students who want to remain and participate
in their school's musical programs. Thus, helping them obtain the instrument
they need to take part. We all know that kids in music also become better
students. We've also placed moneys in many different school's musical programs
as well! Helping the school's continue their classes and teach their students.
Every Teacher need's the teaching aids -
music stands - all the accessories; even down to chalk for the chalk boards.
It all helps somewhere!
I must
say, I am proud to be a part of PSMA and lend a hand with this worthy cause!
Also, to bring the new music to the new Mulligans Open Mic Night. Open
Mic is always interesting and never the same, every Open Mic Night has
been a real experience! So, if you want to see a real musical experience
or even take part - it's the Open Mic at Mulligans sponsored by PSMA, every
Wednesday Night!
Come on down
and check it out!
